VIVUS EX MORTIBUS is Tenebris Somnia’s hidden Ending 3. This route needs advance planning, and some opportunities can be missed. Expand the guide before attempting the route when you are ready for major spoilers.
Reveal the ending requirements, route and troubleshooting
Before starting the new run
Confirm SOLVE ET COAGULA and MAGNUM OPUS are complete. Then start a new game and inspect the table in the ground-floor lobby for the Bible. Do not plan this as a simple change at the late-game Aurifer save: its preparations occur much earlier.
The prerequisites and interactions below are cross-checked against Destructoid and NoobFeed’s dedicated Ending 3 guide. They are player-guide instructions rather than a developer-published unlock manual.
The three missable checkpoints
1. Floor 2 apartment: before the TV puzzle
Use the Bible in the living room. Begin at the Man/Mars symbol ♂ on the circular floor design and move counterclockwise around the symbols six times. Defeat the cultists and collect the first Iron Cross. Do this before completing the ordinary television-symbol puzzle.
2. Floor 1 Community Center: before opening the projector lock normally
Use the Bible at the projector-room lock. Follow its clue and enter 6666, then defeat the enemies and collect the second Iron Cross. Do not open the same lock through the ordinary phone-code route first.
3. Floor 0 cinematography room: before using the Copper Key door
Enter through the green door and use the Bible in the room. Connect the yellow RCA cable to the tripod camera and cycle its channels until the encounter begins. Defeat the enemies and collect the third Iron Cross before continuing through the Copper Key-locked door.
Open the secret route
With all three crosses in the current run, return to Floor 3 and go through the blue door left of the elevator. Locate the marked poster on the brick wall to the right, place the crosses and enter the secret doorway. Complete the encounter beyond it to reach VIVUS EX MORTIBUS; NoobFeed identifies this secret boss as Amy.
Avoid losing the run to a missed window
Check for the relevant cross immediately after each optional encounter. A missing cross is easiest to diagnose while its location and puzzle state are still clear. Keep a separate save before each ordinary puzzle boundary if the game permits it.
The references differ slightly in how they name the wall by the final entrance, so identify it using both the Floor 3 elevator and blue-door landmarks. They agree on the three-cross requirement. We do not infer that carrying one cross from a different save can replace collecting all three in this run.
What this page does not establish
This guide does not promise a particular bonus-item reward, a wrench-only achievement strategy or a minimum completion time for the secret route. Those are separate claims that require their own verification. Steam confirms the hidden ending’s name and number but does not describe its full trigger sequence.
Return to all endings for the main branches, or use RENUNTIATIO for the separate early-exit hidden route. Exact installed build and console parity remain unconfirmed.
